Since we are spanning four versions of Illustrator here, and each has a few different ways of handling things, it helps me to help you by knowing which version you&#8217;re using. Thanks!<\/p>\n<p>1. What version of Illustrator are you using? \u00a0\u00a0<strong> I am using CS3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2. Of the colors listed below:<br \/>\na. Which is most commonly used for printed work? \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>CMYK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>b. Which is most commonly used for web-related work?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong> RGB<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3. What&#8217;s the difference between opening a graphic and placing one?<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0 Place allows you to position the graphic into an open drawing; Open allows you to open a new grachic as a new file.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>4. How do you get the guidelines to appear? How would you use them?<br \/>\n<strong>You get guidelines to appear by View-&gt;Show Gridlines<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n5. What do you use to &#8220;nudge&#8221; your object?<br \/>\n<strong>using the arrows on the keyboard allows you to nudge your object. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>6. How would you export your drawing as a raster graphic for use on the web?<br \/>\n<strong>File-&gt;Export\u00a0 give your file a name and extension type and location then save.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Part II &#8211; Looking Around<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Draw a rectangle &#8211; it may be filled or unfilled, but give it a stroke outline.<\/p>\n<p>Once the rectangle has been created, leave it selected and visit each menu (File, Edit, etc) and see what options are available on those menus. Take a look at all the palettes that are available from the View and Windows menu options. Tell me:<\/p>\n<p>1. Two options you find on the View menu.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Outlines and Guides<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2. Three palettes you can open from the Window menu.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Brushes, Layers, Links<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3. Save your rectangle in .ai format (native format) and as a .jpg (raster format) using the Save for Web option on the File menu.
