{"id":451,"date":"2010-11-19T00:25:57","date_gmt":"2010-11-19T04:25:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eyoungwon.com\/journal\/?p=451"},"modified":"2010-11-19T00:25:57","modified_gmt":"2010-11-19T04:25:57","slug":"is-my-avg-software-causing-logmein-to-go-offline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eyoungwon.com\/journal\/is-my-avg-software-causing-logmein-to-go-offline\/","title":{"rendered":"Is my AVG software causing LogMeIn to go offline?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are two different types of AVG software, please refer to the corresponding section for the version you have.<\/p>\n<h3>AVG Anti-Virus<\/h3>\n<p>The AVG antivirus program has a Resident Shield which blocks executable files, and may prevent LogMeIn.exe and LogMeInSystray.exe from operating properly.<\/p>\n<p>To resolve the problem,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click the AVG icon in the Windows systray, then click\u00a0<strong>Launch AVG Control Center<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Next, right-click the\u00a0<strong>Resident Shield<\/strong>, click\u00a0<strong>Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Uncheck the &#8220;Activate Resident Shield&#8221; box to deactivate the Resident Shield.<\/li>\n<li>Next, right-click the LogMeIn systray icon and click &#8220;Enable LogMeIn &#8230;&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>At this point, the host computer can reattach to the website.\u00a0 Thereafter, when logging into the LogMeIn website, the name of target computer will display as a blue link, indicating that it is online.<\/p>\n<h3>AVG Internet Security<\/h3>\n<p>Included with AVG Internet Security is a firewall component that may prevent LogMeIn from operating properly.<\/p>\n<p>To resolve the problem, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click the AVG icon in the Windows systray, then click\u00a0<strong>Launch AVG Control Center<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Tools<\/strong>, then\u00a0<strong>Firewall Settings<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Under the &#8220;Profiles&#8221; option on the left side of the screen, click the\u00a0<strong>+<\/strong> next to the bottom profile listed, i.e., &#8220;Standalone computer&#8221; or &#8220;Small home or office network&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>+<\/strong> next to &#8220;Applications&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Find LogMeIn in the list and modify the Application action to\u00a0<strong>Allow for all<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Scroll back up to Applications and click on it so it is highlighted<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Add<\/strong> on the right hand side of the page<\/li>\n<li>Click the button next to Path and browse to\u00a0<code>C:\\Program Files\\LogMeIn\\x86<\/code> <em>x64 for 64 bit OS<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Select LogMeInSystray.exe and click\u00a0<strong>Open<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Change the Application action to\u00a0<strong>Allow for all<\/strong> and select\u00a0<strong>Apply<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Repeat these steps for the following LogMeIn files: LMIGuardian.exe, raabout.exe<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once these steps have been completed, right-click the LogMeIn systray icon and click\u00a0<strong>Open LogMeIn<\/strong>. \u00a0 Once the LogMeIn toolkit opens, click on the power button in the top left corner to disable LogMeIn.\u00a0 Once disabled, click on the power button again to re-enable LogMeIn.
